The Reef is being planted by people from Ohio, sent and supported by churches that believe Key West is better with a Jesus-centered community in it. They pray, they give, and they send. Two of them have carried us from the very beginning.
The Sending Church

Heartland is the church that prayed, equipped, and sent Nate and Shawna to plant The Reef. They carry the weight of this plant as their own — partnering in prayer, generosity, and care from day one.
Heartland exists to help people find Jesus, follow Jesus, and share His love.
Where It Began
Kent, Ohio
Before Heartland, Nate and Shawna spent four years on staff at Riverwood — learning to pastor, lead, and love a local church. The four years here shaped the convictions that The Reef is built on.
Rooted since 1991, Riverwood gathers in Kent, Ohio with one mission: to know Jesus, be known, and make Him known. Honest relationships define the culture, and Jesus stays at the center of everything.
